You might ask yourself, am I healthy enough to exercise?

Do not let these nagging concerns hold you back from achieving a healthier you! Most of our dedicated professionals have a medical background. They will be monitoring you during your fitness programs. Our physicians are on call if needed. With your fitness program, we recommend that you be evaluated with comprehensive blood work, EKG, and nitric oxide testing. During your evaluation, your physician will decide if more extensive testing is needed, such as echocardiography, stress testing, carotid blood vessel thickness, heart calcium scoring, or breathing tests.

Am I going to aggravate a previous injury?

If you are worried about irritating an existing or previous injury, you should be evaluated by one of our medical providers. It is important to ensure that your muscles, tendons, and ligaments are strong enough to support a rigorous exercise program. If you have a previous or current injury, then it is important to appropriately strengthen and rehabilitate the joint before starting an aggressive fitness program. Alternatively, our providers may release you immediately to begin an intense workout program with injury-specific stretching and rolling. With the correct workout programs, most people actually improve joint pain because of the weight loss, reduced inflammation levels, and rising growth hormone levels that they achieve through increased fitness.

What if I have a medical problem like thyroid disease, high blood pressure, high cholesterol, or high blood sugar?

Our personal trainers work closely with the physicians to design programs that help improve symptoms and reverse medical problems. Our physicians are available for consultation when needed. They can work alongside your current physicians as consultants, or they can become your primary care physician, if you choose.

Our physicians practice functional medicine. They are able to prescribe medications and recommend appropriate supplements to help you achieve your medical and fitness goals. For example, if you have blood sugar problems, they may recommend a supplement called berberine or a prescription called metformin, depending on your blood sugar levels and treatment preferences. They are also able to fine-tune your hormonal balance. The providers of Oubre Medical look at your detailed thyroid panel, growth hormone levels, sexual hormones (testosterone, estrogen, and progesterone), and adrenal gland function (cortisol). All of these hormones can inhibit or foster your fitness program. Many times, prescriptions or supplements need to be used in order to balance your body’s hormones. For instance, our providers utilize a hormone called Sermorelin, which boosts your brain’s natural production of human growth hormone or HGH. Without appropriate growth hormone levels, you are unlikely to burn fat or grow muscle as quick as others.

What if I have joint pain, tendonitis, arthritis, or other musculoskeletal pains?

We have a dedicated team of medical professionals that can help evaluate your problem. Determining the root cause of your pain is the most important piece of information. After determining the source of your problem, we formulate a plan that will get you to pain relief. We utilize state-of-the-art treatment options like manual therapy, active release therapy, prolotherapy, platelet-rich plasma, and stem cell technology. These technologies may regenerate old injuries and improve pain. If you want to know more about any of these therapies, we encourage you to ask one of our trained staff members.
